Hey Chef Kendra Here, today we learn
how to make caramel corn. We have popcorn, brown sugar, baking soda, vanilla, butter
and light corn syrup. We are going to get our brown sugar into our pot and then we are
going to slide in our corn syrup. The link to the recipe can be found in the about section
below. We are going to take the time to preheat our oven to 325 degrees. Caramel is one of
those things that looks like it s hard to make and messy to clean up. All you have to
do is soak all your stuff in hot soapy water and the sugar will melt away. No scrubbing.
OK, now we are going to add unsalted butter to the pot and stir the mixture until the
butter melts. Then we are going to let it come to a boil. Once boiling we are going
to let it go for 4 minutes. You do not need a candy thermometer for this one, just let
go without stirring it guys, and you are good to go. Now we are going to drop some popcorn
into a large roasting pan. Now turn off the heat. We are going to add our baking soda,
and stir. Be brave, it is going to foam up, just keep stirring. Now add the vanilla, and
keep stirring guys. Our popcorn will be like our best friend during hard times, right by
our side. Now pour the mixture over the popcorn and we are going to stir. You won t able to
cover all the popcorn this first go around because it s starts to harden up on us. But
we re not worried because we are going to bake this for 15 minutes and it will be soft
again. Stir, stick in back in the oven for 10 more minutes, and repeat one or two times
until the caramel is almost crispy. Turn out on silpat or plates to cool. OK, share and
if you haven t already, subscribe. Chef Kendra is out. Peace.
